The Simple Church

Changing the world
one disciple at a time
About Us!

Statement of purpose

This Site is established with the purpose of helping fulfill the "Great Commission of Christ." To that end, we strongly support the Simple (Organic) or "House" Church movement, to edify believers and make disciples.

It is our sincere hope that we can and will motivate followers of the way and help to equip them for the battle ahead. We sincerely hope that this website, attached blogs and various highlighted ministries will be be a resource for individual Christians, who for various reasons are not able to regularly fellowship in person and to assist simple churches around the globe.

Here, in addition to our own works, we will link to other sites and on our blogs we will post the work of others to include videos and articles with the sincere hope that all of it will edify others in the body as well as lead the lost to Christ!

What is Simple Church?

A return to our first love (Jesus Christ) and the Reformation of the 21st Century

Structure

1. Simple Churches typically meet in private homes.
2. Pastors/Leaders are not typically paid for services.
3. Tithes and Offerings (if and/or when collected) should be dedicated to missions and to help the needy both locally and abroad.

Without rent/mortgages to pay and no salaries, all monies collected are not used to run the church which means that house churches effectively cost no money to maintain.

Meeting in homes means small gatherings of people who can get to know each other and with the help of the Holy Spirit can become a spiritual family, the body of Christ.

We believe in a priesthood of all individual believers. Everyone should be encouraged to participate and share with others what God is doing with their lives and to pray and to love one another.

The focus of the house church leadership is grow more leaders through discipleship. Once a church grows beyond the capacity of a house to hold it, it should split into two churches. Like cells in the human body divide and grow, the body of Christ multiplies by dividing!

To help maintain unity within the body, we think that periodically multiple churches should gather and church together.

Simple Church Gatherings focus on:

Bible Teaching - Members should develop a reading plan and come together as often as they can to teach, learn and discuss God's word.

Fellowship - Takes place before, during and after meetings and whenever members meet together.

Communion - After gatherings and whenever appropriate, we think believers should share a communion meal together as this connects us with believers past and proclaims our remembrance of the Lord's death, burial and resurrection until his return.

Prayer - We believe that God the Father hears our prayers so as a church, we believe in praying for each other's needs. We also pray for courage & strength for our leadership, for our communities, for our lost friends and family members and also for our enemies.

Key Scriptures

(Mat 18:29) "For where two or three gather in my name, there I am with them."

(Mat 22:37-39) Jesus replied: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your should and with all your mind." This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: "Love your neighbor as yourself."

(Mat 28:19-20) "Go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

Statement of faith

 - We believe the Bible to be the inspired Word of God to man
 - We believe that there is one God, eternal, existent in three persons (Holy Trinity) as the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit
 - We believe in the deity of Christ, The perfect word of God made Flesh, His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, atoning death, resurrection from the dead, ascension and His yet future personal return in power and glory.
 - We believe that believers are justified as a result their faith in Christ's finished work at Calvary and said faith is evidenced by life changing repentance.
 - We believe that salvation is the gift of God, not of works and that God is faithful and true to his promises in spite of our failings and, unfortunately all too often, our faithlessness.
 - We understand that we can only see through a glass darkly and as such, we allow for disagreement between believers on minor doctrinal issues and agree that NOT everyone who contests a position is a heretic.
 - We believe in testing the spirits to see if they are truly from God.
 - We trust in the Holy Spirit for guidance and rest in the Lord Jesus Christ and his finished work at Calvary!
 - We are a non-denominational internet ministry seeking to support the Simple (Organic) "House" Church movement and stand on this simple statement of faith.
